About two weeks ago, I woke up one morning with one thing in mind - how badly I wanted a latte from Starbucks. However, after checking my phone and doing my usual morning routine, I looked outside my window and saw icy-white snow covering the pool deck. One thing about me is - I am not a fan of cold weather, unless there is snow (I love the snow). So as happy as I could be, I ran into my roommates room and woke her up excited to go play outside. (Live footage of me heel-clicking through the snow below)

Later that day, I was drinking a warm hot chocolate, thinking about how badly I wanted to go skiing now that I was experiencing snow again for the first time in a year. I called my mom after pondering this for 20 minutes and she enlightened me that her and my dad were going to be in Blowing Rock, NC next weekend. I asked if I could come, and of course her response was "I don't see why not?"

Fast forward about two weeks, and I am sitting at the top of the ski mountain wishing I was cozy next to a fire drinking hot chocolate again. I had fallen about three times and there was ice stuffed in my boots to the point where I could not even feel my toes anymore. But, I kept skiing for another two hours, because "why not?" continue enjoy doing something I only get to do about once a year. (Action shot of me going down the mountain below)

After skiing for a few hours, I decided it was time to rest up for "Après-Ski" (after skiing activities). So after re-warming my toes, we headed into Downtown Blowing Rock for dinner and drinks at The Best Cellar (known for hosting celebrities who come to stay in Blowing Rock, NC). I highly recommend their delicious flatbread pizza that I enjoyed sitting next to a warm fire.

As I drove back to Chapel Hill after the weekend was over, I reflected on how the weekend was exactly what I needed. Family time, fun, and good food. Sometimes I hesitate to go out of my way and leave Chapel Hill for a weekend (in fear that I will miss something fun), but as my motto goes, just think "why not?" So that was exactly what I did. Cheers to a good weekend!
