Summer in Miami

Wake up. Work. Beach. Eat. Repeat.

In December 2020, my best friend and I decided to go to Miami for vacation. After a weekend of good food, good people, and the beach, we fell in love with the city.

In April 2021, we convinced 4 of our other friends to go back to Miami with us. At this point, we were non-stop trying to figure out how we could take our summer internships while also living in a city like Miami. Just as it was meant to be, we both heard back from our internship companies that we would have the ability to be virtual and signed a VRBO apartment the next day.

Not only had I never experienced living in a big city for a long period of time, but I also had never lived outside of North Carolina. This meant new adventures, new lessons, new things to do, etc. All of the excitement that comes with doing something you love. Included in the excitement of these things, I also found the most delicious restaurants, ice cream shops, drinks, and more.

To start, we have lunch at Malibu Farm Beach Club. Known for it's beautiful ambiance of the beach (as seen in the photo below). I had their fish tacos which were delicious paired with a side of vegetables. Overall experience = 9/10.

Moving on to dinner restaurants, one of my favorites was called Seaspice. It is known (as found in the name) for their seafood and overall customer experience. I enjoyed different types of fish and other seafood, such as crab (which was honestly the best crab I had in my life). Overall, the music and experience was a 10/10. Some other dinner restaurants in Miami that I also enjoyed for dinner include: Watr (at the 1 hotel), MILA, Baia Beach Club, and Mayami. (Pictured below is an image of the seafood tower that I got from Seaspice).

The food and atmosphere of restaurants in Miami is truly unique. Rather than just sitting down to have a meal, it is more of an experience.

On other days, we spent time listening to the ocean waves crash while eating our to-go dinners, buying fresh orange juice after a run, and meeting new friends to spend time with. Some of those people we would spend time with became our best friends. After leaving Miami and moving back to Chapel Hill in August, I realized how much living on my own and being in a new environment taught me. From learning more about myself, to being thrown into the reality of the world. So that was a snapshot of what Summer in Miami looked like, through my view.
